Who would have ever thought there would be so much emphasis on the immune system these days? It is common to talk about it during the cold and flu season, and many prepare for it by taking extra precautions. However, with the current health crisis, it has come to the front and center of everyone's conversation. It is estimated that millions of people get infected with the influenza virus each year and thousands die, but the coronavirus appears to be more easily transmitted than the influenza, and has also contributed to taking the lives of many. Your immune system is the greatest defense you have against an array of environmental toxins, diseases and viruses. Did you know that the strength of your immune system is dependent upon “you” living a healthy lifestyle? How you live determines how much muscle your immune cells put on, and their ability to reciprocate in your time of need. In order for them to fight for you, they need you to fight for them. What they want is for you to get plenty of pure fresh air for your lungs, sunshine to make contact with your skin, daily aerobic and weight-bearing exercises, ample water intake, eight (or more) hours of rest, a healthy diet which includes several servings of fruits and vegetables, and a cheerful attitude to release endorphins. Supplements also play a role in boosting your immunity.
An all-time reliable favorite and go-to in our home is what we call “Immune Boosting Drink”. It contains lemons, garlic, ginger, cayenne, honey and purified or distilled water. During the flu season or at the onset of illness we drink three to four cups of this per day to fight off the winter bug. It is nature coming to the rescue, providing natural solutions for healthy living.
